Revel has lost so much in her life; Her brother, her father, her home, and her freedom. The only thing keeping her going is saving what is left of her family.

The Prime , the most powerful man in the land is hunting down fragments of the old gods called god shards. These shards give the wielder part of the power of the god. In order to collect the shards he calls the heirs of the noble houses to compete in an event called the call.
This is a bloody and often deadly event, few make it through the call alive. Only one person comes out victorious.

Revel has been held prisoner and trained to become the perfect tool to win the call and bring back the prize. However competing in the call isn’t her only mission. She must kill the Warbringer, a man who is known to be a vicious and battle hardened man. If she doesn’t fulfill her missions, it means death for her and her family.

As if she didn’t already have enough on her plate, Revel must confront her past and accept her future if she wants to make it out of the call alive.

The first few chapters has ALOT of information, all relevant to the plot. I promise you if you stick with it , its worth it in the end. You may think that there is fluff or filler info, but I promise you its all information that is needed. Id recommend the audio book if you don’t do well with extensive world building the narrator does great at keeping you drawn into the back story.

The plot is very character driven by our FMC. There are some outward forces that do move along the plot as well, however most of the story really does follow Revel and the choices she makes.

This is a Romantasy, however I feel like it really is more than that. If you took away the actual romance aspect of it , the story would still be really captivating. However with that being said, The chemistry between the FMC and MMC chefs kiss.

The magic system is unique. I love alchemy as a magic system and I thoroughly liked this take on it. It feels like a healthy mix of science, magic, and something just a little bit more than what we typically get in an alchemy system. Its intentional magic.

The ending had me absolutely WRECKED in all the right ways. Any time I felt like it was the last reveal or twist, there was just one more.
The build up for book two is absolutely insane and you can bet Ill be pre-ordering that the moment its announced.
