Rosefinch is a 17 year old Witch who has the ability to lift curses. Unlike most Witches her magic is painful to use, so she uses organic matter to help channel her magic. Due to her magic being hard to control she is searching for someone who can help her learn how to control and channel her magic.
Her journey leads her to the cursed village of Harp, hoping that there is a witch who may be able to help. She hears rumors of an ancient castle, that is guarded by a cursed knight. When she decides to go investigate she uses her magic to set the knight free. This is the start of her unraveling a much deeper and darker mystery than she had initially asked for.
Soon she is accompanied by Thierry a charming stranger that she cant help but feel drawn to. However, will their pasts, their secrets, and what is to come for them , tear them apart?
Hollow magic is a charming and mysterious story that shows the power of found friendships and chosen family. The representation of past trauma and how it can haunt your daily life is done in a way that will resonate with many readers.
The artwork is beautiful, down to the color pallets really being able to help convey the mood and emotion of the characters and story.
This is a stand alone, and a quick read. However, you really do connect with the characters and nothing feels as if its lacking. Its a wonderful middle grade story that is enjoyable for adults as well.
