This volume collects episodes 1 to 17 of the enchanting WEBTOON comic Raven Saga.
Wen lives in a cottage in a forest with her grandmother, She’s never been outside the property line. Never met anyone in the near by village. Wen likes to read books her grandmother brings back to the cottage after she goes to the village. She dreams of far off places she reads in her books, and to finally hear the ocean.
One day, a unknown prince falls just outside the barrier and Wen crosses over to help him. This breaks the barrier of magic keeping her safe. In the confusion a flock of ravens and their commander a mysterious boy, capture Wens grandmother. Wen and her new friend decide to travel together to unlock the mystery of the forest, her past and what her future has to hold.
On their journey the Price and Wen don’t yet know, is they are both more connected than they could have ever thought.
This story already has me invested. It spends some time giving you background info and introductions on the main characters as well as a bit of info on where the plot may be going. Even though its the first volume it still drew me in. The art is lovely and the color pallets works fabulously.
You can definitely see that the main characters are going to have a deep connection and that their own stories are tied together. This very much has an old school fairytale feel. Magic, Curses, Far off castles, and adventures to be had. I’m super excited for volume two.
Volume one is family friendly and appropriate for middle grade readers and above.
