The Failure at God School Volume One

Natsu Hyuuga

In a day and age where Gods are more or less people with supernatural abilities. The government , of course has their hands in controlling the modern age gods. You have to go to school and be licensed to be a god and then you are hired to work at a shrine. We follow our main character Nagi as she is trying her best to juggle not only high school, but the loss of her grandmother. The loss of her grandmother was not only a personal loss but a loss to the family shrine as well. Her grandmother was a “god” and the accident that took her life also caused Nagis Twin brother to become a bit of a hermit. Nagis brother is also some one who has powers, but with him hiding away in his room, Nagi has no hopes that her brother will fill the role of “god”.

While Nagi is on her way to school she overhears that a boy has gone missing, she so happens to take a shortcut through the woods, not only does she find the boy, she finds something that will change everything.

This first volume is alot of meeting new characters and discovering the world that Nagi and her family live in and how the supernatural magic system works. We have quite a bit of world building and character development. Once the story picks up you really start to get the feel that there is more to Nagi than what we originally thought.

I am really enjoying not only the story of the main character Nagi but the side characters as well. When they get the group assignment you get to see a new side and more confidence to not only her but the group of unlikely friends. Volume one is full of plot line and intrest to keep you going but leaves you really aching for volume two. There is a good build up going, and intrigue and mystery not only behind our main girl, but the mysterious god she keeps bumping into.

Thank you NetGalley and Yen Press for the digital ARC.
