“Darling, if I’m the dark, then you’re the stars”
This is a dark and fractured fairy tail told in modern times. Lots of dark twisty turns along the way.
James ” Hook ” has his eye on the prize, and that prize is revenge against Peter Michaels. Peter has a daughter named Wendy, and James thinks he can use her to get close to Peter and enact his revenge. Wendy has a few friends and works in a coffee shop, she spends most of her time alone or with her brother.
Wendy and James meet one night when , Wendy and her friends happen to have a girls night and end up at the bar that James owns. James sees his way in and starts to get close to Wendy.
As Wendy and James grow closer, Wendy knows he’s dangerous and the more she learns about the world he lives in and the real facts about his business she finds her self uneasy if she is falling for him or is just enticed by the dark and danger.
Although this is a Fairy tail retelling this is not a fantasy book. Its a Dark contemporary romance. The characters are very much based off the original story however they are very adult and they are not the sweet innocent children you know from the story.
There are some cheesy moments , however those don’t take away from the dark , twisty-ness of the story.
I wish when we got to the end it was a little longer , I don’t typically think books need more conflict, but I wish we had gotten just a bit more at the end before the wrap up. Like just a smidgen, like two more pages. I really wanted to have more of the badass Wendy moment and it to be a tad more triumphant, however i also see how that may not work as its a conflicted triumph moment.
This is a SPICY book. NOT FOR CHILDREN / YOUNG TEENS !
18+ due to sexual content, and Trigger warnings.
There are a list of trigger warnings available if you are unsure if this is right for you.
This was the first Never After novel I had read and i ate it up.
Wendy should probably see a therapist, but so should I.
