Harper L Woods
This is book two in the coven of bones series.
Where I was very anxious to pick up this book, as in I read it the following day after I finished the first book, I was underwhelmed. I’m not one to typically DNF a book, and I didn’t, I made it through to the end. This was a challenge for me to get through.
I make the above statement with a heavy heart because I was very excited for this book, and I think it just feel short of hitting the marks it needed to. I almost felt as if I had missed some information or there was more follow through needed.
The first half of the book felt very much like an enemy to lovers sort of deal, Then the end felt cut short and on a cliffhanger. It feels almost like a weird segway book for me. I did find that there is a third book coming October of 2025 ( I saw this information on good reads ). This could very much explain the pacing and overall feel of this book.
I will be holding out for book three and hope that the book makes a little more sense once we have more context to go on.
-Additional note: As with the first book in this series the book itself is bloody beautiful! The cover is gorgeous, and the sprayed edges are wonderful!
Thank you NetGalley and TOR publishing group for the copy for my honest review.
